The app tells you when other people do something that matters to you. You choose the kinds in Settings → Notifications, and your choices apply to all your devices. The Activity screen lists everything that happened, with a badge for what you haven't seen.

Why don't I get a notification when I add an expense?
You are never notified about your own actions, only about what other people do.
The app never asked me about notifications. Why?
It only asks when you choose to turn them on, in Settings → Notifications.
How do I check that notifications work?
In Settings → Notifications, tap “Send a test notification”. It should arrive in a few seconds.
